On March 31, 2010, Commission Regulation No 271/2010 regarding the organic logo was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) No 271/2010 of 24 March 2010 amending Regulation (EC) No 889/2008 laying down detailed rules for the implementation of Council Regulation (EC) No 834/2007, as regards the organic production logo of the European Union).
The new organic logo is the second certifying symbol for organic products in the EU. The first one was launched at the end of the 1990s and was applied on a voluntary basis. It is obsolete from 1 July 2010 although it may still appear on some products as they clear through the supply chain.
The exact style guide is available in the Regulation (EC) No 271/2010 and in the user manual.
