Young organic and fair trade activists from all over the world have founded Young Organics e.V., a new global action network. First actions speak for themselves: by creating urban gardens and contributing at international conferences Young Organics aims at connecting young minds, hands and hearts of the organic and fair trade movement.
It started in a room at BioFach 2011, the international organic trade fair in Nuremberg. The network is fueled by all young and active people who want to act now for a sustainable world.
Besides promoting projects like urban gardens on a local scale, Young Organics want to bring a young voice into the global arena at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in June 2012 (RIO+20). Supported by world food prize laureate Hans Herren and several NGOs, Young Organics therefore prepares a workshop on "Youth and Young practitioner’s engagement in Sustainable Food Production". This workshop takes place at the 64th UN/DPI NGO Conference* in Bonn on September 4, 2011. This is the most important conference for NGOs in preparation for RIO+20 and the results of the Young Organics workshop will be integrated into the final outcome document of the conference.
